Hunger Awareness Day is about raising awareness of the solvable problem of hunger in Canada. Food banks across the country hold events to tell the story of the work they do, and the stories of hungry Canadians assisted by food banks.
This year Canadians are being invited to make a change – big or small – that can impact the issue of hunger in our country.
Want to know what you can do? Make a Change, Make a Difference!
Details about a local event being organized by The Mississauga Food Bank will be coming soon!
Check out these three unique ways to support The Mississauga Food Bank. Please contact Meghan Nicholls, Director of Marketing and Fund Development, if you have any questions.
1. CARS: If you have an end-of-life vehicle, why not donate it through www.charitycar.ca and have the proceeds come to the food bank?! Environmentally-friendly car disposal, a donation to the food bank, and a tax receipt—what could be better?
2. FRUIT: Order a delivery of fresh fruit for your home, school or office and Fresh Fruit Delivery will contribute the same amount of fresh fruit to The Mississauga Food Bank. You get nutritious fruit to eat and The Mississauga Food Bank has fruit to distribute to clients! Visit www.freshfruitdelivery.ca or call 416-61-FRUIT for details.
3. BEQUESTS: When you include The Mississauga Food Bank in your will, you are using your legacy to help fight hunger and feed hope in your community. Bequest gifts also have significant tax advantages. The Mississauga Food Bank will gladly assist you in creating your legacy. For more information or to discuss leaving a legacy gift to The Mississauga Food Bank, please contact Meghan Nicholls.
Mark your calendar for our 2nd Annual BBQ showing our thanks to our fabulous volunteers who have volunteered 10 hours or more! Invitations have been mailed.
