The National Student Food Summit 2011 is the first of its kind in Canada. The Summit will be held at the University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. With the theme of the Summit being, “Food Connects Us All”.   Students concerned about issues related to food, poverty, health and the environment are invited to be one of five representatives from their campus to share their expertise and perspective in the creation of a Campus Food Charter. This document will identify a set of principles related to food that all of us can strive towards to achieve food security on our campuses and communities across Canada.

The Summit is open to any student attending a post-secondary school in the fall and the deadline to register is July 29th.

Calling all bikers – Take a ride against hunger!

Riders Against Hunger
in support of Eden Community Food Bank

Saturday, August 20^th, 2011

Registration starts at 9am at the food bank (3185 Unity Drive, Mississauga)
Poker run-style ride starts at 10am
Lunch and Prizes at end venue, Five Guys Burgers and Fries, after 1pm

Registration: Minimum of $50 in donations (includes Breakfast, Lunch, Event T-shirt, Prizes, Raffles & Draws)
Additional raffle ticket for every $50 raised.
Commemorative ride gift items at $150 and $250 raised.

Prizes for top fundraisers! 100% of funds raised by the riders will go directly to the food bank. Tax receipts will be issued for each individual donation of $20 or more.

Eden Community Food Bank provides food and advocacy assistance to up to 500 hungry families every month in western Mississauga.100% of the funds raised will go directly to providing food for families in need.
