Hunger Awareness Week is May 6 – 10 this year. This is a week long opportunity for food banks across Canada to participate in fundraising events geared toward fighting hunger in their local communities and to raise awareness about the issue of hunger in Canada. The Mississauga Food Bank will be running the Brown Bag it For Hunger campaign to help support the 65,000 clients that depend on us for support each month.
What is Brown Bag It For Hunger? This campaign invites groups or corporations to bring their lunches to work and donate the funds that would have been spent on buying a lunch to The Mississauga Food Bank.
Why Brown Bag it For Hunger? A donation of just $10 – the price of an average weekday lunch – will provide 30 meals to our hungry neighbors. Our goal is to raise $20,000 from this year’s Brown Bag it For Hunger campaign – that’s equal to 60,000 meals!
