The Mississauga Food Bank is always in need of volunteers to fill the following roles:

Food Drive Volunteers
We need large numbers of volunteers during the spring and fall annual food drives. This is a great opportunity for families to spend time together and to teach their children about giving back to their community. More information can be found at www.mississaugafooddrive.org.

To reserve a volunteer position for the 2010 Fall Food Drive on either Saturday October 16, Sunday October 17, Saturday October 23, or Sunday October 24, please fill out the Fall Food Drive Volunteer Application, and submit it to Nikki Sandhu. Positions are being filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Warehouse Operations Volunteers

Daily support is needed to help sort and pack the food coming into the warehouse. This includes cleaning products, inspecting food items, and packaging those items into boxes so that it is ready to be shipped to our affiliate food banks and food programs in the Mississauga area. To be considered for this opportunity, please view more details of the Administration and Warehouse Volunteer Posting, and submit your Volunteer Application to Nikki Sandhu.

Office Administration and Front Desk Volunteers

This is a great way to interact with other volunteers and visitors.  You will be responsible for greeting visitors and new volunteers, answering the telephone and redirecting phone calls, data entry, and project based work as the need arises.  In addition, the volunteer would also assist in the warehouse during peak periods.

To be considered for this opportunity, working from September to December for 1-3 days a week during business hours, please view more details of the Administration and Warehouse Volunteer Posting, and submit your Volunteer Application to Nikki Sandhu.  Interviews will be conducted during the month of August.

Event Day Support Volunteers
The Mississauga Food Bank participates in many local community events with the goal of increasing awareness of hunger in our community, an understanding of our services and collecting food/monetary donations from the general public.  Volunteers assist in all of these areas by acting as a representative in our booth, handing out informative literature, answering questions from the general public about our services, collecting donations, and giving away items (such as helium balloons or temporary tattoos). Listings of event day support opportunities will be posted on this page as they are available.

To apply for Event Day volunteer opportunities, submit your Volunteer Application to Nikki Sandhu.
