What do our volunteers do?
Every day, our dedicated volunteers impact the lives of those living with hunger in our community. To say that The Mississauga Food Bank could not function without our volunteers is an understatement – their commitment is immeasurable and invaluable. Members of our community invest more than 13,000 hours every year, helping to fight hunger and feed hope in Mississauga.

Volunteers help by:

  • Doing various tasks in the warehouse: sorting food, picking agency orders, cleaning/organizing – the jobs posted on our white board are different every day!
  • Staffing our reception desk
  • Assisting with administrative tasks
  • Providing support at special events
  • Organizing food drives
  • Contributing as a member of our Board of Directors and other committees

For all groups who come to volunteer in our warehouse, we request that you bring a food donation with you. We suggest each person bring a grocery bag of non-perishable items. If you’re not sure what to bring, check out our most needed items list for inspiration.

Information for Corporate Volunteers

Volunteering in our warehouse is a fun, interactive opportunity to engage with The Mississauga Food Bank and see your support in action!

As we receive more requests to volunteer than shifts we have available, we recognize corporate groups who donate food and/or funds by providing them more opportunities to volunteer than those who do not. This means that we schedule corporate groups who donate food and/or funds more frequently than those who do not. For information on donating food and/or funds, please read about Other Ways to Help.
