When I say you helped us meet the need, I hope you know that was no small feat in 2018.
We saw an 18% increase in the number of families and other neighbours coming to the Food Bank in need of fresh, nutritious food. That increase was massive and unexpected. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to provide food to everyone who came to us in need. We are so grateful for your support to make that possible.
In late 2018 and early 2019, many of you showed your continued commitment to ending hunger in Mississauga by supporting Mayor Crombie’s Holiday Food Drive and One Bag Challenge. Through your inspiring generosity, this campaign raised $650,300 and 404,500 pounds of food for children, families, and seniors across our city. Your commitment to our community is amazing!
I’m deeply thankful to everyone who participated in the Holiday Food Drive, including our sponsors: Tim Hortons, Rabba Fine Foods, Just Energy, and Wynn Fitness. I also want to say a special thank you to Mayor Bonnie Crombie and her entire team. Since the mayor started the One Bag Challenge four years ago, our community has helped raise over 1 million dollars and 1 million pounds of food through this initiative!
We’re beyond thankful that finding solutions to hunger is a true community effort here in Mississauga. Whether it was volunteering, giving grocery items through a food drive, or making a
donation—every hour, every pound of food, and every dollar given by generous supporters like you will make a difference for your neighbours in 2019.
Thank you for meeting the need at every turn for so many of our hungry neighbours. We are grateful for you!
