We’ve all experienced another year of living in this pandemic, and what a year it has been!
Mississauga, thank you for continuing to show up for your hungry neighbours through your unwavering community support. Because of YOU, we were able to deliver an unbelievable amount of food this year. The most we’ve ever seen in our 35-year history!
Our team was able to rapidly expand operations when the pandemic hit, and make our organization more efficient and effective. And, thanks to the incredible response of our donors, volunteers, partners, and community, we know we’ll have the ongoing support we need to continue feeding our hungry neighbours.
Your generosity enabled The Mississauga Food Bank to distribute over 4.2 million pounds of food through our network of over 50 agencies. That’s food for over 4.6 million meals which is a 58% increase from last year. We almost don’t know how you did it!
While we will continue to work alongside valued supporters like you to feed hungry neighbours, we know that this increase paints a sombre picture of what our community has been experiencing. Our lowest income neighbours have been hit the hardest by the pandemic, and the food bank became their lifeline this year more than ever.
It’s a long road until we see a day where poverty no longer exists in Mississauga. But thanks to you, so many of our neighbours will have access to the food they need to nourish and sustain them until we achieve our vision of a Mississauga where no one goes hungry.
