If you love being outdoors or if you’re looking to get fit for a good cause, then these End Summer Hunger food drive ideas are for you!

  • Race for hunger – First, choose whether you want to walk, run, swim, or ride. Tell your friends and family that you’re racing to End Summer Hunger, and ask them to pledge a donation for each kilometer. Keep track of your distance and donations, and take photos along the way to share your journey!

  • Picnic at the Park or Summer BBQ – Gather your friends and family for a day outdoors! Find a place, choose a theme, and put together a playlist. Ask each person you invite to bring something to share at the picnic as well as extra items to donate to the food bank. You can also take a few minutes during the event to raise awareness of summer hunger.

  • Scavenger Hunt – This event takes a bit of planning, but it can be very engaging. Start by creating a map of challenges that each player needs to complete. Invite people to compete by bringing a donation. The first person to complete all the challenges wins! You will also need to get prizes; try asking friends or a local business to see if they can donate one!

  • Sports Tournament – Do you love playing sports? Organizing a game or tournament can be a fun way to get people active and supporting their neighbours. Ask players that want to join to bring a donation as the participation fee. You can also sell or distribute refreshments throughout the game. Invite members of the community to support and cheer the teams on!
Are you ready to throw an amazing outdoor event? These steps will get you started. You can also tag us in photos of your #EndSummerHunger food drive, and we might share your event!
