A campaign update for the #MississaugaChallenge

At a press conference on April 15 at City Hall, Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie provided an update on the #MississaugaChallenge that launched last week in collaboration with Mohamad Fakih, CEO of Paramount Fine Foods.

The challenge brought on by the need to provide urgent support to the families we serve, set out an ambitious goal of raising $840,000 over the coming weeks to ensure food bank users in our local community receive healthy, nutritious meals during this unprecedented time.

In just over a week, the #MississaugaChallenge has raised 69% of its initial goal and has brought in a whopping $576,000 to support The Mississauga Food Bank’s emergency operations during the COVID-19 crisis.

As we move forward and inch closer to our campaign goal, we’d like to acknowledge the tireless work and efforts of the community at large. From thanking Mayor Crombie and Mohamad for spearheading the challenge, the generosity of our friends who have made financial gifts and food donations, to our dedicated volunteers who have shown up when we need them the most, thank you.

We would like to specifically recognize those who have made sizeable gifts to the #MississaugaChallenge. Not only will we be able to make sure we can get food to our hungry neighbours immediately, but we will be able to ensure smooth operations in the coming months.

“I am so proud to live and work in a tight-knit community that shows up and supports one another in times of need. Every single person is feeling the effects of COVID-19, and now more than ever we need to support our most vulnerable neighbours. I have complete faith that we can meet our collective goal of $840,000.” – Meghan Nicholls, Executive Director, The Mississauga Food Bank
