New Member Agencies Join The Mississauga Food Bank Network

Food Bank and Pantry at Eden Food For Change join The Mississauga Food Bank Network in the Fight Against Hunger in Mississauga

Mississauga, ON – As the cost of living in the GTA continues to soar, The Mississauga Food Bank (TMFB) anticipates a 6% increase in the number of visits in the coming year. In an effort to provide hungry members of the community better access to the healthy food they need, two long standing anti-hunger organizations are joining forces.

TMFB has been serving Mississauga since 1986 and is the central food bank for the city, overseeing a network of 50 member agencies working towards a vision of A Mississauga Where No One Goes Hungry. Starting January 1, the Food Bank and Pantry at Eden Food for Change (EFFC) will be the newest two member agencies in this network.

EFFC’s Food Bank on Unity Drive will join as a neighbourhood food bank – providing 7-10 days worth of fresh, frozen, and non-perishable food items to hungry neighbours once each month. Their second location at Eden United Church will join as an emergency food pantry providing an additional 2-3 days of non-perishable food to those across the City who need it.

“Providing hungry Mississauga residents with easy access to healthy food in their neighbourhoods has always been The Mississauga Food Bank’s top priority. We’re pleased to have the Food Bank and Pantry at Eden Food For Change as two new agencies in our network to ensure those struggling with hunger in Western Mississauga have a food bank close to home. They bring their long-standing commitment to fighting hunger and their excellent referral services for food bank clients to our network of agencies.”

Chris Hatch, Executive Director – The Mississauga Food Bank.

Eden Food For Change is looking forward to increasing the regular supply of nutritious fresh food to clients thanks to this relationship with TMFB. We are working hard to ensure that those who need food are able to get it.”

Ron Saito, President – Eden Food For Change.
