Meghan Nicholls, CEO TMFB

February is here! If I could, I’d send you a bouquet or a big box of chocolates to show you how much we appreciate you here at The Mississauga Food Bank. Instead, please accept this newsletter as our ‘love note’ to you.

Over the past year, you’ve cared for and nourished children, seniors, families, and neighbours through some of the toughest challenges of our lifetime. You’ve demonstrated the true meaning of love— to your community, and to your neighbours in need. All through the pandemic, you never stopped giving of yourself. You made sure that no one was ever turned away empty-handed, even as the need went through the roof.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for keeping food on their tables, no matter how hard things got.

Your caring spirit shone through during the holidays. Thanks to you, we raised over $1,900,000 and 350,000 pounds of food through our Holiday Food Drive. You made the holidays hopeful and bright for so many people. And no neighbour will go hungry this winter, thanks to you.

Please keep showing the love to vulnerable neighbours. More and more families have lost jobs and incomes, and are struggling to make ends meet. More seniors are at risk of going hungry without food delivered to their doors. More kids are missing out on healthy food because of canceled meal programs.

In the months to come, they’ll need your help more than ever. Please show them that they’re not alone. That there’s nutritious food—and hope—waiting for them, no matter how long and hard the Winter gets. Thank you again for sharing your love and compassion with those who need it most in our community.

Please accept my deepest appreciation in return.

Gratefully,

Meghan Nicholls
Chief Executive Officer
