Nourishing News | Winter 2022 – A message from our CEO, Meghan Nicholls

Thank you for showing love to hungry neighbours.

It’s that time of the year! Everywhere we look, we’re surrounded by heart-shaped chocolate boxes and bouquets of roses.

They call it the “month of love”. But thanks to supporters like you, I know that true care and compassion last all year long.

Because each and every day, from January to December, you share that love with hungry neighbours. A love that’s selfless and kind. A love that shines through even in the darkest of times.

Because of you, kids get the nutritious food they need to stay healthy. Because of you, seniors get food and friendship delivered to their door. Because of you, parents can stop worrying at night, wondering how they’ll keep food on the table.

During a once-in-a-lifetime crisis, as hunger soared and over 20,000 people turned to their local food banks, you made sure that our doors always stayed open.

Over the fall, you made our brand new Community Market possible, bringing fresh fruits and vegetables to neighbours who would otherwise go without.

And together with our generous sponsor, the Nissan Canada Foundation, you raised an incredible $1,725,090 and 529,894 pounds of food in support of our Holiday Food Drive to make the holidays special for children, seniors, families, and other neighbours in need.

Every day, every season, you give people hope and show them that things can be better.

From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for everything you do to lift your neighbours up.

With my love and heartfelt thanks,

Meghan Nicholls
Chief Executive Officer
