Meet Cindy, Reception Volunteer

Cindy began volunteering with The Mississauga Food Bank in January.

“I once heard someone say, ‘the more we give, the happier we feel’, and that couldn’t be more true. Supporting people has given me a sense of achievement in knowing that my efforts positively impact others. Anything we can do as individuals in society, no matter the size, is always making a difference. We become better as a society when we come together and contribute in any capacity we can.”

As one of our volunteers who speaks to clients regularly, Cindy has heard first hand the positive impact that our volunteers have on the community. “One time, a client phoned wanting to personally thank a volunteer who helped her organize getting food delivered to her home through our ‘Food Bank 2 Home’ program.

In the middle of her sentence, she broke into tears, explaining the amazing impact that the program has had on her… I nearly teared up myself hearing how grateful she was for the help we were able to offer her and what a huge difference it made in her life. It was a touching moment that reminded me of the significance of each volunteer.”

Thank you, Cindy, for helping create a Mississauga where no one goes hungry! #volunteersbringchange
