Meet Fraser, Food Bank Volunteer

Fraser began volunteering in April after participating in our monthly helping hands program. He’d seen TMFB volunteers at local grocery stores collecting donations in the past and knew he could make a similar contribution to the food bank beyond his regular monetary gift.

Fraser currently volunteers in our emergency food bank ensuring our program management software is updated with the latest data alongside serving our hungry neighbours. As a retiree with new found free time, Fraser recognizes the importance of people power in helping the food bank run smoothly. He affirms that as much as charities need money, they also need people’s time.

“Charity begins at home by helping your neighbours. Since my wife began working from home this spring, she’s been donating her gas money to the food bank, and I’ve been donating my time. It’s definitely a family affair. The food bank runs like a well oiled machine. Right now, there seems like no end to the demand for emergency food in Mississauga , but there are many opportunities for you to get involved to support your community.”

Thank you, Fraser, for helping create a Mississauga where no one goes hungry.
