When we opened our current warehouse doors in 2014, I never imagined that we’d be distributing three times the amount of food to hungry neighbours in 8 years’ time!

It’s safe to say that 2022 was a difficult year at The Mississauga Food Bank. More people turned to us for help last year than ever before.

But, through all the challenges, I’m so grateful we had you by our side. It’s no exaggeration to say that you gave a lifeline to our network of agencies as they worked tirelessly to keep up with the 60% rise in demand since the beginning of the pandemic.

Most importantly, you were there for the growing number of our neighbours facing hunger—many for the first time. Students, families, newcomers, seniors like Veronica… All had somewhere to turn for food and support, thanks to you!

They call February the “month of love,” but I know that your care and compassion last throughout the year. We truly couldn’t do this critical work without you.

With the holidays fresh in my mind, I’m so proud to say that together, we exceeded our Mayor Crombie’s 2022 Holiday Food Drive campaign goal! Thank you for helping neighbours facing hunger get the food they deserve. A very special thanks to Mayor Bonnie Crombie for her passionate support and partnership, and to our generous campaign sponsor, the Nissan Canada Foundation!

As we look to the coming months, there’s no doubt that hunger will continue to be one of our community’s greatest hurdles. It takes all of us to feed our hungry neighbours, and 2023 will be no different. I hope we can continue to count on you as we work towards a Mississauga where no one goes hungry.

With my heartfelt thanks,

Meghan Nicholls
Chief Executive Officer
