Your generous gifts now feed children, families and seniors who are hungry in our community today. But we know there will also be a need for emergency food support in the future.

Making a donation in your will to The Mississauga Food Bank is a meaningful way to use your legacy to ensure no one goes hungry in Mississauga for years to come.

Leaving a donation to charity in your will is NOT just for the “wealthy”. You can leave any amount – either a fixed amount or percentage of your estate – to The Mississauga Food Bank.

• If you have included The Mississauga Food Bank in your will, please let us know so that we can properly thank you and recognize your gift in the ‘Food for Life Legacy Givers’ circle. The Planned Giving Gift Confirmation Form ensures we have all the correct information.
• If you don’t already have a will, you can create one and leave a legacy gift to The Mississauga Food Bank by creating a Last Will and Testament on our partner site – LawDepot. You will receive a 15% discount on any document created! To use this discount, visit LawDepot using this link.

Tribute Giving

It is also important to recognize the power of tribute giving as part of your end-of-life plans. Family members are often too distraught to consider the wishes of the deceased and don’t choose any charity at all when printing an obituary or memorial service program.

By including your wish to have gifts made to The Mississauga Food Bank in your memory or in lieu of flowers, it could see food provided to those who are hungry in our community all in your memory! We are pleased to provide donation cards for this purpose.

For every $1 received in honour or memory of a loved one, The Mississauga Food Bank can distribute healthy and appropriate food for 1 meal to those who are hungry in our community.

From this form, you will be able to request a letter to be sent to the person or their next of kin.

When you donate a gift of publicly traded securities directly to The Mississauga Food Bank, you eliminate the capital gains tax that you would pay if you sold the securities and then donated the proceeds.

Donate Vehicles

If you have an end-of-life vehicle, why not donate it through www.charitycar.ca and have the proceeds come to the food bank?! Environmentally-friendly car disposal, a donation to the food bank, and a tax receipt—what could be better?

How it Works:

• Visit www.charitycar.ca and request a vehicle pickup
• Answer questions about your vehicle, such as colour, make, or model
• Transfer the vehicle registration over to your local network member
• Collect the receipt of pick-up for your vehicle

Donate Aeroplan Miles

We are pleased to be partnered with Aeroplan Beyond Miles where we can receive Aeroplan points to be redeemed for flights or other rewards. Donations of Aeroplan points will help us in our fundraising efforts and by reducing travel expenses for staff training.

While The Mississauga Food Bank is not a partner agency of United Way, if you wish to help create a Mississauga where no one goes hungry through your United Way donation, we encourage you to designate your donation to us!

How to Designate Your Donation to The Mississauga Food Bank

Simply fill in our name and registered charity number in the appropriate fields on the form and the United Way will forward us your donation, less a processing fee. For more information on this service, visit the United Way website.
