Why volunteer with The Mississauga Food Bank?
By becoming a volunteer, you can help ensure hungry neighbours across Mississauga have access to healthy and appropriate food.

Learn about how poverty affects the lives of your neighbours and develop your knowledge about food insecurity, and how The Mississauga Food Bank helps neighbours in need through different programs and services.

Build valuable, hands-on experience and transferable skills as a valued volunteer team member. You will find opportunities to challenge yourself and add experience to your resume while trying something new!

The work that you do as a volunteer directly impacts those who are vulnerable in our community. Every volunteer plays a critical role in putting food on the table of hungry children, seniors, families and other neighbours in our city.

Testimonials

“You should absolutely volunteer at The Mississauga Food Bank, it’s a great place and you get to help people… Nobody chooses poverty. People need to pay the bills and they prioritize having a home over having food. Nobody ever chooses to go hungry but it happens.”

“Volunteering makes me feel like I am making meaningful contributions to the community and enacting positive change. Speaking to clients, donors and staff on a daily basis has shown me the impact that The Mississauga Food Bank has on so many lives.”

“I’ve been coming to the food bank for 20 years and I’d just like to say to the volunteers that I’ve met over the 20 years that it’s been my honour to work with you. You’ve all been wonderful. You come here, you work hard… and it makes a big difference.”

“I feel like I am making a huge impact in the community along with the other volunteers. We all love to work productively together to pack food for many families in need. Especially during this pandemic, it is even more important to assist the community and leave a positive impact for everyone.”

“Right at the start of the pandemic, the food bank client lost her job unfortunately and she was really alone and had no one to talk to. Seeing me helping her out really made her day and she broke down and we shared a moment together which was really incredible.”
