Grocery Store Fundraising Lead Volunteer

About the role

Lead a team of volunteers to help The Mississauga Food Bank raise funds and food at grocery stores across Mississauga during our Spring, Thanksgiving, and Holiday Food Drives. We’re currently looking for volunteers for our Holiday Food Drive!

Responsibilities

Lead, coach and supervise all the volunteers at your store.
Stand at the door of the grocery stores and ask people to make a monetary or food donation.
Sign up for at least 1 day (6 hours) at each of our annual campaigns (there are three campaigns; Easter, Thanksgiving, and Holidays)
Attend a one-hour training session.
Arrive on time at the location.
Welcome volunteers and sign them in.
Provide support and leadership to volunteers.
Maintain a positive, professional and enthusiastic attitude.
Responsible for handling the donations to the truck driver or staff lead.
Provide feedback about volunteers and the campaign in general.
Learn the language and branding of The Mississauga Food Bank.

Qualifications

Enjoy fundraising and achieving fundraising goals.
Enthusiastic and enjoys engaging with the public.
Comfortable asking people to donate funds or food.
Experience receiving cash donations.
Experience with fundraising and events.
Excellent communication skills.
A team player and reliable.
Leadership skills.
Passionate about The Mississauga Food Bank's mission.
Highly aware of the need to collect funds.
Covid-19 Vaccine required.
