Last year, 85% of all food distributed by The Mississauga Food Bank was donated by generous people like you!

It takes all of us to feed our hungry neighbours.

What You Need To Know

Anyone can contribute food to feed their hungry neighbours!

If you have non-perishable food to donate, you can drop it off at The Mississauga Food Bank, any Mississauga fire station or select grocery stores throughout the city with collection bins.

To avoid waste or The Mississauga Food Bank rejecting your donation, please refrain from donating items past their expiry date, vitamins or over the counter medications (eg. Tylenol, cold medicine, etc.), home baked goods, or food prepared in a home environment (such as personally wrapped meats, opened food items, or food not in its original container/packaging).

Read through the tabs to learn about other types of food donations.

  • Grains

For more information about this guideline, please refer to our Good Food Policy.

What food we accept:

Perishable and non-perishable (including fresh & frozen) quality food items that are:

  • Close to best before date
  • Surplus
  • Damaged
  • Mislabeled
  • Discontinued

What is the procedure for donating food?

Before any food donation arrangements are made, you must first contact us to discuss proposed donation and logistics.

All donations of food given in good faith are covered by the “Good Samaritan Act“.
