Equity, Diversity & Inclusion

At Food Banks Mississauga, we are committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.

Together with our agency network, Food Banks Mississauga works to provide access to appropriate food and resources for those in need, with a goal to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in all aspects of our work. We believe everyone deserves access to healthful food and necessities to live a full life, regardless of any aspect of their identity. We believe that food is a human right.

We are committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for food bank users, volunteers, donors, agency members, and staff.

This means:

  • Providing services that understand the diverse needs of our Mississauga neighbours
  • Offering programs that are accessible and respectful
  • Treating all those who use food banks with dignity

We recognize that food insecurity affects people from all walks of life, and our goal is to address this issue through a lens of equity and social justice.

Food Banks Mississauga is committed to using our platform to advocate on behalf of our neighbours living with poverty to all levels of government to push forward long-term, systemic change that addresses the root cause of food insecurity – poverty.

We are committed to being a leader in promoting EDI. We recognize that EDI work never stops, and we will continue to grow, learn and find meaningful ways to enact real change to eliminate barriers and promote equity in all that we do.
